More than certifications or degrees, the thing that matters most is fit. So here is a bit about what it’s really like to work with me in wellness coaching through Embodied Affirmation School.
I’m highly empathic, compassionate, and professional but also incredibly down to earth. I am thoughtful and reflective, and I will ask you deep questions that invite you to shift your perspective and energy, challenge you to make changes, and support you in cultivating the wellness and life changes you most desire. My role serves to partner with you to create homework assignments or challenges for you to complete between each session we have (and offer you a space for check-ins via Signal messages or email). I offer you a space to experiment with changes, try new strategies, and implement tools and resources I provide to you.

My coaching includes forest-bathing and nature-based strategies in wellness coaching because these have been shown by research to have dramatic and lasting improvements on our well-being in many areas. I use a feminist framework, which means I make the coach-client relationship as egalitarian as possible, believe you are not broken and you have the answers within you – we just need to find them, and I view you and your wellness as existing within the larger systems of which you are part.
I might offer you tools and reflections, suggest journal prompts, include music and singing, breathing/mindfulness exercises, and offer suggestions for resources you might enjoy or resonate with.
We will probably laugh some! It is not all serious, but it is all important.
What I ask of you if we work together in wellness coaching:
If you choose to work with me, I want you to show up. Not just physically or over the phone or on-time, but to truly show up for yourself when we meet and in between. We all have an off day or week, but overall, I ask you to show up more often than not. The real change and magic in wellness coaching happens in-between sessions when you implement the strategies, use the tools, and celebrate your wins while offering yourself compassion when the experiment tells you another solution or different version of the strategy you tried might be better.
Well-being is in the being.
I ask you to be open minded, willing to try new things, committed to the work, and to be your authentic self. Cuss if you want! Be real with me. No faking or lying. Be you. As an “out” woman in the LGBTQIA+ community who would be your coach, this is a non-negotiable. Authenticity and vulnerability are hard sometimes – I get it. But they are necessary for growth and wellness.
Other things you should know for working with me in wellness coaching:
I’m inclusive, pro-diversity, justice-oriented, and progressive. I am not the coach for you if you are seeking singular religious based coaching, if you are anti-DEI OR if you are on the fence about increasing wellness in your life. Wellness coaching is not a replacement for medical advice, therapy, nutritional advice, personal training, or any other health care. Instead, it complements and enhances these.
Logistics:
We meet for one full hour. We meet 2-4x per month depending on what you prefer while you are working toward change. Once you have reached your wellness goals and are ready, we can taper down to 1x per month for maintaining your changes once you are ready and continue that until you are ready to stop meeting regularly.
If you’re in Chattanooga, or NW Georgia, we can meet in-person to include forest and nature-based interventions and strategies. We will meet in a local park if you choose this option and may walk or sit. (I am sensitive to chronic pain and illness, but also know the power of meeting outside and using forest-centered practices – so I am happy to accommodate the need to sit if that helps you)
If you are outside of the area or there is inclement (severe) weather, or if you just prefer, we can meet by phone. I can still include some nature and forest-bathing experiences by phone if you visit a natural area during our call. *I do not offer coaching by video, because it can be distracting and limiting for what types of strategies we may use (where you may need to get up and move.)
I follow the BCC Code of Ethics which includes protection of your privacy. You can read more about the BCC Code of Ethics here.
My fee:
One hour session, $140
I maintain a small number of reduced-rate ($110) spots available for need-based assistance and justice pricing. Please let me know if you would like to know more about that. You can also email me at embodiedaffirmation.charity@gmail if you have any questions.
